It can feel overwhelming to begin dabbling in the professional world. There is the job hunt, the interview preparation, picking the correct attire, competing against other well-prepared and accomplished candidates for the same position, the promotion; believing that you can fulfill a larger roll and convincing others of the same thing, and learning to cope with an ever-changing market.
Starting from the very beginning is often a daunting task. Whether you’re switching careers, interviewing for a promoted position, or practicing for your very first interview, it takes a lot of drive to take that first step. Even then, there are times when you get pushed back three steps and have to start all over again. It’s not a quick journey – it’s an extended length of time to get where you’re going. In fact, most times we won’t even be able to see the ending destination of our journey because life throws so many curve balls our way.
Begin with just a step. Put one foot in front of the other and begin to understand yourself and your dreams as you continue to travel. The only time you need to look back is to remind yourself where you’ve been.
